...Thank god Panasonic are charging for this. It means that V-log is actually worth paying for, and I will definitely be one of the first in line to pay to have a version of Varicam-log added to my GH4.

Who is giving away something like this for free? JVC on the LS300? The camera cost over three times as much currently, and (unfairly or not) has a bad reputation, which is probably why JVC is giving it away for free.

Tons of people are buying the GH4 and are happy with it as is, so why spend many months and many dollars trying to develop a major feature upgrade for it that many people won't need and give it away for free?
