panasonic tapes

Ah, but would you USPS them to an APO, rather than using UPS/FedEx? I can't receive via them except to my economy address...which makes me pay 16% VAT or go through the hassle of driving out to the zollamt to prove I'm not required to pay VAT.

If not, the DVXuser discount would be eaten up by sending things to my Mom and having her remail them. (Luckily, I was in the 'States in July, so I had the Bogen sent to Mom and just carried it back with them when I left. :) )

In special circumstances like that, yes I will. Either the shipping manager or I take them down to the Post office, and send them out, np. :) The only problem with USPS APO is that I can't give a shipping estimate until they do it, so I would have to charge the credit card shipping after the shipment has gone out. If that is okay by you, it's okay by me  We have done it before for people in your situation, and for military personnel.

Cool. Thanks. My wife is twisting my arm to buy a production monitor, so...maybe soon. :)

damn, i wish i had a wife who insisted on me buying her video gear instead of getting ridiculously priced shoes.

now all my tapes are rolling inside the camera, panasonic MQ and others... what's up with that, I don't really shake the camera much!!

AKH!!!!!!!!!!

........back to an important question someone brought up:

When is Panasonic introducing new tapes to replace the MQ's? I just bought 10 from EVS but now I'm wondering if I need to stock up.

Rush, any info on this? Availability and price?

Rush -

When I get ready to buy more tape, do I need to contact you directlly with a DVXuser code for some kind of discount? The lowest price I found on AY-DVM63MQ tape was at Direct Tape for $5.43. I would only be buying 10 tapes. Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi grasshopper, standard DVXuser price for 10 tapes is $5.40 and it goes down from there. Email me for the complete list.

Bradfu: the new AMQ's are quite a bit more ($12.85), so we bought the last batch of 5,000 regular MQ tapes, and as far as we can tell when those are gone, we will only be able to buy AMQ. Stock up....

This is a joke, right? Panny is going to force me into PQ's ??? Between this and the rebate fiasco, I am questioning my commitment to the company and the HVX....

I ordered some MQ from B&H, but they're closed for Passover & won't ship until after April 21. I have a shoot this weekend and couldn't find any MQ or AMQ locally so had to get the Panny consumer grade. Anyone have thoughts about using these?

One other thing...I already striped the MQ tape that came with my DVX100B. If I do use the consumer grade, should I clean the heads first?

Those are the "Advanced" Master Quality tapes. According to some other posts on this thread, Panasonic is doing away with the regular MQ tapes.

Used to use MQ tapes as well, but back in the "tape shortage of early 2005" I was forced to buy a pack of PQ tapes, always from EVS, and havn't looked back. They have been just as robust as any footage I had shot on the MQ tapes. Personally I've never had a problem with them.
