Panasonic Tape Drop Outs Compared to Sony

Alright I need the real answer....I just bought some Master quality panasonic tapes from evsonline....I have been using Sony Premium qualitys but everyone says to switch.....When I get these tapes and after I clean the heads, what are my chances of the elusive Panasonic Drop Out....Going to be, because I have never had a problem with the cheap Sony Premiums, but Everyone says the Panasonic Masters are better so once again what is everyone elses experence with these tapes...

Using MQ tapes I have had a couple of dropouts but that's after 100s of hours of shooting so I'd say you should have very little problems.

I thought I was having some dropouts recorded directly to the tape but found out recently the dropouts were introduced during capture time using a different camera. I re-captured several tapes and the dropouts weren't there the second time around. One tape was a little stubborn and I had to capture it several times before no dropouts occured. Probably need to clean the heads on my capture cam. I wonder how many people assume the dropouts are recorded on the tape (as I did) when they are really not.

same thing happened to me. I use a sony DCR PC110 to capture and one tape had a lot of dropouts. When i played the tape back on the DVX nothing was wrong so it was the sony that was the problem.

Well guys, I guess I'm just one of those morons (my words) who doesn't know what causes/cures dropouts! The last three plays that I have taped for our local theater, has produced multiple freezes and dropouts. A major pain in the ass, especially since I'm pretty much doing it as a "service" to the players. I use my DVX100 with MQ tape and use iMovie. Sometimes use 83 min tapes (I have to..the acts are sometimes way over an hour long!)..sometimes battery..somethimes AC. I almost always fix the problem just by recapturing and doing it all over again. Why am I getting these? Thanks!
