Hi, shooting a doc on Pana SDX900 (never used it yet - not common here) later this week - anyone got line up settings they like? What about this camera should I know before I have to use it?

Thanks chaps.

Thanks mate.

we shooting DVC-PRO50, is it possible to configure the onboard mic to record on channels 3 and 4? The manual is f*cking complicated. I'm guessing it wont be too hard to figure it out though on the actual camera.

Cheers.

you can send the front mic to 3 and 4 if i remeber correct , didnt touch this camera for 3 years

If I remember correctly I think channels 3 and 4 can only be used with a wireless accessory add-on . Other then that, the camera is pretty straight forward.

Cheers

Sweet. Thanks, yes it looks pretty easy. Any advice for onboard settings? How does the limiter on it work?

menu 785 , 786
what is not clear , shut it off
check you set as the factory presets
only on thing , close the tone during the bars recording , so your tone will be despalayed
you can send camera mic to 3 and 4 with out limmiter( 1 and 2 only) and low cut filter .the front mic could be 40db or 50 db gain
set the input rear for 0 DB if you send 0 dbu tone
the headromm - internal reference ton is not important if you send yours ( -18 is europian reference for 0 dbu - i prefer -20)

check that the menu set you have ability separate recording OF 3 AND 4 and not duplicating the 1 and 2 channels .
dont know exactly where the limmiter start to work but it is not problem to check AND MOT USE IT AT ALL .

The SDX will allow you to use all 4 channels, 2 assigned from the onborad mic, two from external line or mic level sources. Channels 1 & 2 can have limiters, channels 3 & 4 only have ALC capability, no limiters.

If i am not mistake with Miranda 800 you can go directly to 3 and 4 as well digital in .
dont know if any one really did it
quit a good camera for sound recording as i remember , quit pity its not popular here

I have been a fan of the SDX for a number of years. Great camera for a lot of applications and yes, it has a terrific audio section.
