Panasonic Rebate

Does anybody know why when I fill out the rebate it ask me what my previous camera's Manufacturer and Model Number are ?

no panasonic executives outside my window so far...
 
I was asking because when I look at the rebate on the website it talks about updating. So I wanted to make sure that because I didn't update that it would be a problem
