Panasonic NAB: new 3rd-gen VariCam; 2/3" and 1080p up to 120fps

AVC/Intra Class 4:4:4 - nice! It looks like it has the HPX600's body design.

Barry, are you at NAB? If so, please find out if the 600 will be upgradable to AVC/Intra 200.

Nice looking camera!

I really hope Panasonic can pull things out in the coming years. I have been a fan through many of their cameras over the years and would love to see that strong tradition continue.

4:4:4 12-bit = woah!
120/60fps = woah!
Log = Woah!
CMOS ... still skeptical.

It better not be significantly more than the 5000, that camera is already overpriced at $28k... just my opinion; it'll be a hard sell too the boss/clients.

2/3 is so 2001 :)

Just kidding. I'm sure someone will buy it.

I personally really wish there was a sub $5k 2/3" camera (though $3k or $4k would be even better). The zoom ranges on ENG lenses are un-matched in the SLR world.

Plus I think that 2/3" has a nice middle ground between 1/3" chips & larger format chips. You get a shallower DOF than a 1/3" HVX, but have more forgiveness than a full frame 5D.

DVXUser doesn't have many people that shoot for ESPN, or Dateline. But I'm guessing this camera will do well with that level of production (if the networks like the specs of the camera).
