Panasonic Master tapes

In regard to the horror stories you heard, the problem is the result of using tapes with incompatible lubricants, i.e Sony uses a wet lube, Panasonic uses a dry lube. The result of using both is residue on your head and subsequent dropouts.
Stay dry, you be fine!

no problems man....i've used MQ, PQ panny tapes from the start..not a single issue. When i put in a sony tape one time cuz i was stuck ater i took it out..i got the RED X of doom... lol..but that didnt last long.

The main difference from the PQ and the AMQ is the AMQ are more durable in terms of reusing the tape. The don't fall apart as quickly as the PQ's. However I never reuse tapes so that's not a problem that I run into.

Unless your tape is just a backup and you're recording using FW out to a laptop in which case PQ's rock. I've used them 30+ times without any glitches.
