Re: panasonic dvx100a

If you have a PC running XP, they have a decent freeware editor called MovieMaker 2 bundled.

It doesn't do much, but you can pull stuff into a timeline and edit audio tracks like the professional apps do. If you have XP and don't have the software, you can download it free from Windows Update.

Congratulations on your choice in camera - you won't regret taking the plunge!

You can also download a trial version of Vegas 5 from the internet for 30 days you can edit. Be careful though. You may just fall in love with Vegas!

Re: panasonic dvx100a

Most PC's come bundled with basic consumer editing software.  You might have something and not even know it.  BUt yes, whether you have an NLE or not, shoot like a madman and drive your family nuts monoplozing the TV to view your footage.  Shooting with different settings under different conditions (and getting Barry's book) is the best way to learn how to use this magical tool called the DVX

edit: sorry, overland already mentioned the bundled software.

Re: panasonic dvx100a

Avid has a very basic free program http://www.avid.com/freedv/index.asp It's definetly a step up from windows moviemaker, and would be a great tool for you just starting out. I learned on fcp 1 and avids in film school, moved on to premiere for a few years, but haven't looked back since adopting Vegas. But for a starter program the avid free will work great.

Yeah. He frequently says that his flock should "pray" about making donations and makes a big point about being "debt free." Just wondering if aaron was a fan.
