I'm curious about getting this microphone and haven't found any posts about it here...

* Polar Pattern --- Unidirectional
* Output Impedance --- 50 ohms +/-20 oHms
* Output Connectors --- 3-pin XLR
* Pad --- No
* Low Frequency Roll-Off No
* Power Requirements +48V DC Phantom Power 3.0mA or less

I need a mic for recording skateboarding tricks. Since i don't have the luxury of precisely aiming a mic (shotgun) in this situation, I need something that is Omnidirectional/Unidirectional (Not sure if there is a difference here). I will be shooting with a DVX-100A while I ride along side a few feet away from the skater.

* Is this mic any better than the built in one?
* Is it stereo or mono? is it worth the $150-$190?
* Any alternative omni/stereo mics available for this purpose?

Any input will be greatly appreciated

Re: Panasonic AG-MC100G

it's definitely a better mic. It's a mono mike. as regards worthness I'm not sure. If you need a budget shotgun I beleive that if you go to www.globalmediapro.com they have shotgun mikes branded globalmediapro with impressive specifications and super low price. Well, I can't judge the performance & reliability of these mikes because I've never used one. But from the polar patterns and spec sheets they seem impressive. The differenece in price is so big that I tkink that it's worth taking the risk and buy one of these shotguns.
