Palindromes

Todd Solondz is one of my favorite writer/directors and I saw his latest film tonight "Palindromes".

It is dark as hell, but I really loved it.

Has anyone seen this film?

Chris

I can imagine.

If you've never seen a Todd Solondz picture before I think might be in shock.

My favorite is still "Welcome to the Dollhouse" but this was really great. I also love the way he connected this story to "Welcome to the Dollhouse".

I recently saw it for the first time at a film festival in Central New Jersey and Todd Solondz was there to introduce the film. I had seen all his films before this one, so I knew what to expect to a certain extent. There were people in the audience, however, who were quite surprised by the content/structure of the film despite a warning by Solondz and the festival programmers. Oh well.

In terms of the film, I really loved the structure and the performances (especially considering a lot of non-actors were used). Again, it's a shame that the people who complained weren't able to look past the divisive (to say the least) issue of abortion and judge the film on its merits and approach to the issue. Honestly, I think its Solondz's most emotionally genuine and heartwarming (yes, Solondz and heartwarming in the same sentence) film to date.

CMessinio, what part of Jersey do you live in? I'm in Metuchen myself.

That movie was about abortion?

I just saw this and I would need to write a flow chart to understand what just happened.

This is my second Todd Solondz flick. I liked this better than Happiness, but I don't think I'll ever feel like I want to see one of his movies for a second time.

I'm in New Providence about 30 minutes away. Always nice to see more jerseyites on the forums. :)

UHRGL- you should definitely see "Welcome to the Dollhouse" it is easily his best work.

I'm a huge fan of Happiness, I'll have to check that one out.

The only director presentation/screening I've attended (other than festivals) was Joel Reed introducing Blood Sucking Freaks, around 20 years after it came out.
