I have a short (6 min.) I shot with a PAL mini-dv camera, that I need to transfer to NTSC.
I tried doing that using FCP, compressing it as DV-NTSC, but the result quality is very jumpy, and not professional looking at all.
Usually a NLE will not convert the PAL to NTSC correctly. There is a way to do it using After Effects where you interpret the PAL footage at NTSC frame rates then pitch your sound by 4% to match.
Another option is a program like Nattress or DVFilm Atlantis. Atlantis can convert your footage from Pal to Ntsc and vice versa. You can download a full working demo (with watermark) and DVFilm is having a 25% off sale until Xmas.
