Pal Dvd Conversion

Hey guys,

Can anyone recommend a good piece of software to convert PAL DVD Video files into a good working format to be edited in vegas as NTSC?

I've been using AVS video converter and it makes the footage grainy and unusable.

Edit in Vegas on PAL timeline and then encode to NTSC when creating the MPEGs for DVD authoring. It's what I'd do (have done), anyway.
 
You don't need to convert the files in order to work with them in Vegas - so why bother? You're adding an unnecessary compression stage in your workflow. I never encode first.

Sorry, I had assumed you were outputting to DVD via an authoring tool in which case you would not create VOB files but compliant MPEG2 files. BUt whatever your final output, DVD, Tape, Web - in any of these cases, the transcoding to NTSC can be done at the same time as final output - either from within Vegas itself using 'the render' as templates or, as I prefer, using Procoder 2 or TMPEGEnc via a frameserver.
