Painting out cables in a handheld shot

I know AE pretty well...but still don't know how to paint out cables in a moving shot. In a lock off, it's easy--my Paint effect covers the offending cables on the floor. But when the camera is moving, every frame is different. I can paint from by frame, but even then, the Paint effect is applied to every frame in the segment. What's the proper Paint/Clone technique for a moving shot like this?

Use photoshop to rebuild the sky at certain points in the pan, motion track, and apply the track data to your various sky layers, using their respective anchor points put them in place.

That's the easiest thing I can think of, and allows you to use the Healing brush.

Thanks Matt. I wondered if I'd have to do it in Photoshop! You confirmed my fears. Heheh. Photoshop it is! One day After Effects should make this technique a little easier. If I were a programmer I'd try to write the dang plug-in. :-)

i remember reading a year ago about a plugin that would auto remove wires. you would mark where the wire was, and the software would extrapolate what was behind the wire by analyzing the footage on either side of the wire. sry i don't know name, but it exists!
