"Paintbrush function" on Premiere Pro CC?

Hi guys,

There are times where the person's shirt highlights are over the top, or a person's face is 'too green' and targeted corrections are required. Is there a tool in Premiere Pro CC similar to Lightroom that we can use to make brush adjustments? Otherwise, what is the next best way to resolve such localised issues?

On the side note, are there any specific LUTs made for the a6300 in Cine4 so far? The closest I've found is Impulz FS7 Cine4, or DELUTS A7S Cine4 though.

Thanks!

Unless you're shooting in a RAW format, chances are blown out highlights aren't something you can fix.

But the green issue is called Secondary Color Correction. PP can do this using the Three Way Color Corrector, and in the next release coming soon, will be able to do so with the superior Lumetri panel of effects.

Hi there,

I wasn't referring to blown out highlights, but rather portions which are slightly overexposed.

Using 3 way color corrector, it will Globally correct all colours from Colour A to B. Correct me if I'm wrong??

You can also use masks to narrow down the area you want to colour correct. So you can remove green reflections from your subjects faces without effecting the nice green shrubbery in the background.

Is it this one >>> https://larryjordan.com/articles/premiere-pro-cc-new-mask-and-track-feature/ ???

This one uses a pen tool to draw out the outline. Is there a paintbrush option though? it'll be easier and faster this way.

Jim - the difference is that slightly overexposed shots still can be saved (e.g. when using S-Log2), as opposed to blown out highlights.
Secondary color correction affects the specific color in the ENTIRE scene, i.e. not a local adjustment.

Davinci is free and is the best tool for this.

Not if it requires a significant change in workflow and learning a whole new program.

There is no paintbrush tool in PP but there is in AE. However it is NOT the tool you would use to do this. A paintbrush tool would require you to go through frame by frame and paint out the area you want fixed - certainly not a fun or easy process. With masks and tracking, you can select the area you want to make adjustments to, then use a combination of other tools (Lumetri, secondary CC) to make the required changes.

You might want to play with the Lumetri effect more as it is far more powerful than the 3 way colour correcter. You have adjustment slider for Whites and blacks in addition to the highlights/shadows that the 3 way corrector has - so you can adjust overblown/crushed elements without effecting the overall look of the image too much. You can also use the saturation curves to target a certain colour if it has been overexposed.
