"Pag Orbiter" camera support system

Man, it sure looks like they ripped Danny off. That thing is pretty much a copy of DVRig Pro. Could they be licensing the design from him? I sure hope they didn't steal the idea.

Yes, it seems that it can pan and tilt. Don't you think it makes it less stable for steady shots?

Does the spring of the dvrigpro work well?

The DVRig Pro and this similar rig are *not* stedi-type rigs. The DVRig Pro provides a stable platform without a tripod and while you can do some walking and moving around, it doesn't provide the damping of a stedi-type rig. The DVRig works well when you have to be filming for extended periods and need complete mobility.

Well we just got the Orbitor, and I must admit, I am pretty impressed by the quality of that rig. I invite local DVXusers to come up to our lobby and try them out. I didn't think I'd like it at first, but after a quick test, being able to pan with your hands is a big plus. You can always lock that axis and pan with your body. Doing so also allows you to lock the camera at a 90 degree pan, straighten out the handles so that they point forward, and walk straight and shoot someone walking alongside you. The joint for pan/cant is incredible. It is just right, not too stiff or loose. Also, it has a strap system that clip around the back and back into the belt, which is remarkable, because it makes it completely weightless. You can drop both your arms and relax. The belt piece is molded, so it doesn't warp around or bend. The belt is fat and steady. There is a wide clearing for the zoom/focus controller to attach to the handles. The rig is tall so it doesn't need help to get to eye level. Last but not least, it looks absolutely stunning, which black matte molded pieces and polished red metal rods and connectors. Anyhow, whoever wants to see it can come down to EVS.

Do you think the Orbiter could hold a DVX along with a RedRock M2 on rails?

yes it will. i have one and i have used it with my hvx rig which includes redrock m2, mattebox, follow focus, and marshall 7" lcd. a cool thing about it is you can put beefier springs in the shock for heavier rigs. of course the mobility is better on a lighter rig such as hvx alone but it will take the weight and you can shoot for a long time without getting tired.

if anyone is interested in buying mine it will be for sale today in the marketplace. i want to keep but it was purchased by production on a project i am working on. i hoped to keep but they want to sell due to budget issues.

Its not only about the spring strength . when you mount a heavy 35mm setup w/an external monitor etc. all in front of you, you will have to balance the front weight by arching your body back, this is very fatiguing and painful. I have tried my 35mm setup with an orbiter, it holds but the balance is very bad. I ended up with the dvrigpro HD and use the side mount so the weight is almost over my shoulder making the control and balance very easy almost like a full size shoulder camera. I also like the supplied hot show and 3/8 adaptors for my monitor arm and light. a very nice rig well thought out. next will be adding a v lock batt. mount on the back acc plate
