Pag C6 vs. Frezzi

need opinions please...

near as I can figure, the Pag C6 has a great reputation, and lower price, but the drawbacks seem to be:

1. Nickel Cadmium Proprietary battery, which is heavier than Nickel Metal Hydride, or Lithium Ion, and develops a memory over time if not fully discharged between recharges...

2. 20 Watts (only) or 30 Watts (only) depending which bulb you use...

3. Price of replacement proprietary batteries...

The Frezzi light that I am considering is 35 Watts and dimmable...

actually... I'm not sure how often I'll be using it yet...
most likely it will be for ENG type work, but the possibility of "Bread and butter" weddings/mitzvahs is always present...

I haven't tried the page6.

I think the on camera light that sony makes, hvl? something..let me know if you want that model number..is the most rugged on camera light. you don't have to worry about getting a cable caught on anything and the battery lasts a hell of a long time. economical

that said, I do use the Frezzi because it has more options, you can tilt the lighting, you can dim it, etc. I don't use the dimmer that much though, usually the full 35 watts with the softbox accessory. I don't really use the achroitic/barndoors accessory at all, and am actually thinking of selling it? but who knows if I will want it later. my point is that with that, I use the softbox all the time. what I don't like about it is the cord that drops down from the light to the battery. and the battery takes forever to charge. if you have back to back shoots, it will not work for you. that is why I have the Frezzi and sony lights. I use these lights at wedding receptions and always bring both. I consider the Frezzi my "artistic" light becuase I often take it off the camera and use it to light up other things around the room. I have 3 batteries, which is probably 1 too many.

I have the Pag C6 and have been very happy with it. I considered the Frezzi, but I don't need an on-camera light that often, so I saved a little money with the C6. No problems with the battery and 20 watts seems about right for my use. Sometimes I tape a piece of Lee 216 or Lee 250 to the barndoors to diffuse or soften the light--there's also a built-in diffuser. You can't go wrong with either light as the frezzi lights are fantastic and built for hard ENG use.
