p2 to .mov conversion

So final cut converts the .xmf files to a final cut .mov file.

Is there anyway i can get a pc to read those .mov files? Do I have to export them as a certain type of file?

Let me back up.

The .mov files that final cut converts into .mov are back up or stored in a certain folder, so i got the great but not brilliant idea why woudn't they work on my pc since they are .mov so. I tried transfering them over to my pc but when i try to play the files they are all white. Nothing but white. So there is either a codec i need to get to be able to read that format..or i'm tough out of luck.

Any Suggestions or clues or answers out there?

I think FCP "wraps" the mxf files in a .mov type format so that they can read in the timeline. I'm not sure if they are traditional .mov files. I read about it briefly somewhere here on the boards, so you might want to do a search to find out more.

Regular Windows/Quicktime will not display an FCP/Mac DVCPRO-HD QT file. But if you import that file into Edius Broadcast or Avid XPress Pro HD, they will display.
