P2 store hard drive upgrade

Can someone attempt to upgrade their P2 store hard drive.
I want to know if you can just replace it with a larger unit.

Shirley,
I am not the only one who thought of this.

Where is Juan when you need him.....:dankk2:

.....pun intended with the name calling.

The real question is if you can replace the hard drive in the P2 store with another 60gb drive, if the original should go bad. If you can, then I will buy one. If not, then I'll pass...

I have a disc cloner device. It copies everything bit by bit. I am fairly sure that this would work. I have used it many times to copy entire OS's. I have used it to copy systems from smaller drives to larger drives as space is needed. It deals with partitions and hidden files. I know that the P2 store has an instruction set on it. This should be not problem for a cloner.

I too have the ability to clone a hard drive bit for bit. However this ability does me no good if the internal drive in the P2 Store isn't a standard notebook drive. Or if it is locked up in some kind of anti-shock device that cannot be opened and resealed. Or if you simply cannot get the hard drive out without special tools. So someone brave has to try...

The P2 Store comes with a couple of forms for sending it in to Panasonic to have them replace the drive. It reads (paraphrased):
Recommented Daily Checks and Regular Maintenance
It is recommended that the user have periodic maintenance performed every 2000 hours of the HDD's operation. Ask your dealer for further details about periodic maintenance. The operation time can be checked using the P2 Store Manager.
Periodic Maintenance & Repairs Request Form
<What to bear in mind before requesting> The HDD will be replaced when periodic maintenance is conducted for the unit.

What isn't clear, is if this is a waranty repair.

I've popped my p2 store open and the drive is very easy to remove. It is mounted in a small shuttle. I haven't tried opening the shuttle to get to the drive yet though.
