P2 mxf limited to 15 seconds?

Hi everybody. I am using FCP (6.0.1) with a mac system, and have encountered a problem when i try to import P2 MXF files that have been previously transferred to a hard disk (no problem when taken directly off of p2 card via log & transfer).

FCP seems to limit the clip durration to 15 seconds.

I have used both methods of dumping cards (1) using p2cms (2) using drag & drop method. both methods produce identical results.

However i can use the entire clip when imported to Adobe After Effects CS4 (9.0) which makes me believe the clip is not damaged.

I have been stumped. Has any one encountered this?

any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My normal workflow is to dump P2 cards to a hdd, then use Log & Transfer to import the content to FCP. I have never heard of, or experienced your problem. I presume you are copying each P2 card to a new and separate folder with LASTCLIP.TXT file and CONTENTS folder unchanged and intact?

So, all I can think of, is the check all your FCP settings, try something called "trash preferences" (or something like that).

I have tried the workflow you use, but when i try to import through log and transfer the MXF files are unselectable or "greyed out".

I have been copying the P2 cards to a new seperate folder with the LASTCLIP.TXT file and CONTENTS folder unchanged and intact.

instead i have used File>Import, which is where i run into the problem of the clips being limited to 15 sec.

I cant find any settings that would seem to limit something like this.

thanks for the help

You can't use Import. When you open L&T, select the upper left file icon, and navigate to the P2 folder that shows the CONTENTS folder and lastclip.txt, then click select. L&T needs the entire folder to put it all together.

thank you, thank you, thank you!
this is totally the fix
you are a life saver
