I was on a music video shoot in Virginia last weekend and sadly, I wasn't the one loading/un-loading the footage. So when I got home and sat down to work on an edit for the video, I found interlace lines in all the HVX footage. I opened up a new project and imported the files into that project. We had shot at 1080i/24p, so I was expecting the footage to be packed into a 29.97 stream. However, no matter what my sequence settings, I can't get the footage to lose the interlace lines or the jerkiness/stutter. There's no way to go back and "re-log and transfer" from the cards so I have to work with the footage I have. I just need to know if it's useless to try working with it now.
When I go into Finder and Get Info on a clip, the information listed is as follows...
Dimensions: 1280x1080
Codecs: DVCPROHD (1080i60), Integer (Little Endian), Timecode
Is there an Easy Setup or some other chance I can make in the settings to get the footage to look right? I'm really at my wit's end with this stuff, so any help would be much appreciated. :dankk2:
UPDATE - I opened a project with the DVCPROHD 1080i60 Easy Setup and used Import to bring a couple of the HVX clips in. I tried to add them to the Sequence and when FCP asked to change the sequence settings to match the clip settings I said "No". In the timeline the video gets a faded green line above it and it plays back in the timeline without any interlace lines or stuttering. I exported a Quicktime Movie with Current Settings and the lines/stuttering also no longer appear. The sequence Editing Timebase is 29.97
That's great, but for this video I have to mix footage from the HVX200, an HMC150, and a little from a Sony EX3. I would prefer to work on a 23.98 timeline for the whole thing. Is there any way I can transcode the footage so it will all work together in the same sequence or am I still going about this all wrong? Thanks again.
