P2 FCP workflow?

I'm new to P2 HD.

I'm having alot of trouble with the P2 work flow.

Somtimes the Log and transfer works other times it does not. I get a "invalid directory structure" error?

I also can't seem to figure out how to archive my footage of the P2 cards? After I copy the files I also get the same error? :badputer:

I looked arould and did not find any real answers.

Is there a previous post that dealt with this?

Invalid directory structure message comes when you select the wrong folder to "Log and Transfer".

Do not dig in as deep as the Video Folder (as you might expect). Contents Folder is the one you need.

FYI. I use P2 Genie in my laptop to transfer P2 Cards to an external drive on completion of shoot. (This becomes my back up). I then use "Log and Transfer" to bring files into FCP project as .movs. I now have two copies of the files and three if I have not re formatted the P2s.

Thanks

Does the P2 Genie keep the original P2 format?

I guess I renamed the "CONTANTS" file and that was the reason for the error.

i'm also new to the P2 workflow as of a few days ago.

something very strange happened when i was importing footage and, i don't know if anyone else has had the same problem but you might benefit from my experience:

after many hours going through the rushes in the 'import --> panasonic p2' interface and labelling everything, i started queing (ie. importing) the clips.

however i soon realised that roughly a quarter of the clips hadn't been transferred at all. when i looked in the capture scratch directory, they would appear with the filename truncated with FFFF#### sort of stuff, and they were only 4kb in size.

however, when i DIDN'T label the clips in the p2 interface, they all transferred fine.

this is a particularly annoying glitch, as it took me many many more hours just to go through EVERYTHING and figure out what had transferred and what hadn't, and then painstakingly retransfer and relabel - in FCP itself, NOT the p2 interface - all the clips.
