Ive been waiting and praying that any day now the p2 e-series will drop on the market.

Just bought the hvx200 and Im loosing money everyday not being able to shoot with it.

Anyone else in a bind waiting for the new E-series

Ive got a shoot coming up june 5th and I have to have cards. I really dont want to rent them either.

I PRAY TO YOU Panasonic shippppp themmmmmm

sorry its 12:30 and my eyes are blood shot red from editing all day. Im going to bed.

If you're "loosing" money every day, why not just buy some cards now? They'll pay for themselves...?

Well ive got 1,300 dollars saved up for 2 32g e-series.

Lol im not so much losing money everyday but im having to pass up opportunities I guess because im cardless. Sure i should probally rent them if I can make money but I just wish the e-series was here.

Like this sunday I had a lady call me wanting me to film her companys memorial weekend pic-nic lol. They only wanted HD footage. And they only have a 250 dollar budget. But they only wanted like a 5min video. I could pry go there get some shots get some people talking and familys and leave in a hour. So If i rent cards from rental house Im looking at around 100 bucks for 2 16gig cards. And all the extra hoopla of renting gear for a 1 hour shoot. be much more convient to own cards.

Sounds like 3 hours of work like this would get you a 16GB card. IF you're losing a lot of similar opportunities, sounds like a no-brainer.

Panasonic said "end of May". It is not the end of May yet, there's still 9 days to go. Never, ever, ever, ever think that they'll show up even one minute before then.

If they do, hey, you got lucky. But a) they won't, and b) when they do ship, they'll be instantly bought up by everyone who's already pre-ordered them.

Did you pre-order?

If not, don't expect to actually get your hands on any until probably July. The "E" series cards are going to be the hottest introduction they've had since the original HVX200.

MAYBE you'll get lucky and they'll be there beforehand. But history would show that you're probably in for a wait. And therefore, a used 16GB is probably the thing to get right now, or some used 8's. And get on somebody's pre-order list ASAP.

barrry where do u think is the best website to pre order from?

BH? I can preorder tomorrow. But I dont know what the best site is going to be for the best chance of getting one from the first shipment

As the Green Barry alludes to, find some old threads from when the HVX200 was released. SAhipping date was said to be "December 2005". Many of us pre-ordered in November 2005. In the last day or two of december, Panasonic shipped a very SMALL number of cameras. Then none for a while. Then they started shipping slowly, sporadically, and "at random" - some retailers who had waiting lists of 300 orders got no cameras, while some with no waiting list got 10 or so. B&H would get 5 or 6, then nothing for a few weeks, then five or six more. Same with Spec-Comm, EVS, all the popular and respected sites. Meanwhile, every day some small fairly unknown place would get a shipment of a bunch of cams, someone would post about it here on 'User, and a small bunch of lucky fast-acting people would get their cameras the next day. Pretty chaotic, and NOT something you want to depend on for something you need to get work done.

My camera, pre-ordered in December 2005, arrived in late March of 2006. I was far from the last on the waiting list.

So... noone can answer your questions; if they do, you're likely to be disappointed. I'd say... wait to buy until they actually start shipping; people here willl be posting reports of who has 'em and you'll have to jump fast at that point. And, if you're turning down gigs waiting... don't. get or rent what you can now.

I wouldn't pre-order from B&H. When the HVX came out, people were backordered into the hundreds on the B&H site, but other folks contacted their local dealers and were able to get cameras much sooner. B&H is the biggest dealer in the world, so they're going to have the most pre-orders, but that doesn't mean they'll have enough cards to fill their backorders. Check with your local dealer; we were finding cameras at Full Compass and Roscor and Lerro and places like that long before B&H's backorders were filled. Ask your local dealer what their allocation looks like and if they think they'll have stock, and what spot you'd be on that list. If it sounds good, plunk down the dough. If it sounds like you'd have to wait, call the next dealer and the next.

There are hundreds of dealers across the country besides B&H.
