I can't decide if I want to drop $1100 on an 8GB card or $550 on a 4GB card

I currently own just one 4GB card and am tired of the b.s.

sorry, im bored and at work

Well, from what I understand 4 gig cards are all back ordered anyways, so that should make that decision easy. :) I think spec-comm has slightly better prices than what you just quoted though. might just be with a camera purchase, I'm not sure. But check it out anyways

A little birdie told me of a place that has 4GB cards in stock

I wonder why they're flying so fast?

Weren't the 8GB a hot commodity not to long ago?

Some say wait a couple of months until the 16 gig cards come out to see if the prices drop on lower capacity cards

Steve2bees and i shot a Video last weeek for silvermodels.com
and we used 2 8g cards. we got 42 min of record time in 720PN. I dont get whyeveryone complains. 42 mionutes is like DVcam Pd170. plus the cars offlaod 2.5X realitime when duimping. there is no fear of being caught without a card?

The work flow is easy as cake.

it kinda doesnt work though. reports are tha they lock up and freeze, and you lose all your footage. Thats SUPERbad.

Recent revisions of the device have reportedly improved it's reliability, but a hardrive-based device will never be as reliable as the solid state P2 media. Of course it's also a little heavier.

Good for doc work or a wedding...

I wanna take the HVX or a DVX for that matter to the Grand canyon. get some vistas. or maybe take it to Istanbul in the spring, or ITaly..... Then a Firestore would be useful since yo ucant dump footage inteh mountains,

I was reading an article a little while ago about the Firestore. They did mention something about the footage loss..but there's some kind of update or patch from Firestore that corrects the freeze ups and what not.

Im pretty sure it was from Videomaker magazine.
