Hi all,

P+S Technik's mini-dolly, called the Skater, looks like a quality, very useful little tool... but, as usual with P+S, outrageously priced at something like 4500 euros plus tax. It has been mentioned in passing in another thread but there was no follow-up on that, unless my search criteria are wrong.

Has anyone heard of a similar gadget priced a little more sensibly ?

P+S web page is here : http://www.pstechnik.de/en/skater-mini-camera-dolly.php

I share the feeling... even though I would possibly have chosen a slightly different way to express it... However, our German friends have really gone over the top as far as pricing's concerned. I could pay for it, but shelling out more than the price of the camera for a toy like this, however nifty and efficient, doesn't make sense. Which is why I'm looking for an alternate solution.

I'm not a DIY kind of man and I was hoping there would be somewhere a similar product for sale at a reasonable price level, but it doesn't seem to be the case at this point... so I'll wait !

monglane,

if you do manage to find a cheaper alternative, will you please post your findings.

thanks.

Walked into Toom (a halfassed Home Depot kinda place) today...they've got little triangular dollies for 10 Euro or so.

Sounds like a new project for Neil Rowe. I'm sure the demand for a reasonably priced Skater-like dolly would be huge amongst this forum. I swear I've seen a dolly very similar to this somewhere. Hmmmmmm????

Yes. I myself would be very interested to own one. The thing is, it's got be engineered and machined carefully. The P+S one is beautifully constructed, which obviously accounts for part of the price...

OK. I know, after all I said about sensible pricing, I shouldn't have... but I broke down... splurged... pigged out... and ordered a Skater.

Yes, it's outrageously expensive, but hey ! you only live once, so why not indulge oneslef big time, from time to time ?

Anyway, this little machine is outstandingly designed and built, rugged, polished, smooth as silk, and I'm very much looking forward to putting it through its paces soon. And it looks awesome with the Chrosziel mattebox !!

I'll try and put some pictures up soon for you guys to drool over.
