P+S Technik MINI35 `400´ what's needed?

Hi there,

seems to me the P+S Technik Mini35 is the best 35mm around? and compatible with the HVX200.

I know it is almost the same price as an HVX but can't find pricing on their website, maybe I'm missing it? Does any one know the pricing?

And then what do you need to buy to mount and use the adapter, thus what makes the kit complete and effective? Excluding lenses and asumming I purchase the Nikon mount. (Cause that seems to be the mount used in their new lenses)

Do you think it is really that much better than the rest out there to justify it's price?

Thanks for everyone's time.

It's excellent: very sharp, flips the image, and extremely rugged. However, it results in a lot of light loss. The HVX is about 250-320ISO and the mini35 loses 2-3 stops beyond that. So you may be shooting at 64-80ISO, then let's say you want slow motion? That's another stop to stop and a half.

35mm film, by contrast, is about 250-500ISO for similarly grainy interior film. 2/3'' video cameras are 320+ ISO. The mini35 and hvx may seem like a deal, but if you're shooting indoors, the combination will necessitate a dramatic increase in lighting budget, fast lenses like zeiss t1.3s, or that you cut all wide angle shots.

thanks for the information Barry

Yeah Policar, putting a 35mm kit on your HVX goes beyond all logical sense, BUT MAN !!!! You get very filmic footage from it !!!

thanks again,
Derrick
