Overheating...!?

I edit on my labtop, and the fan blows out towards the right side where my mouse is. While I edit, hot air blows out. I mean REALLY hot.

Is there a program where I can monitor or reduce the temp of my labtop?
Will my labtop die or blowup in the long run if I continue to edit?

As I'm sure you know, the fan is supposed to blow the hot air out of the unit effectively cooling it down.

They do make some sort of under unit fan system thingies that cool off the laptops better, but I don't know of any program that can reduce the temp of your 'labtop'.

Good luck,

I put Arctic Silver 5 on my heatsink and it helped my laptop run a lot cooler.

You can find directions online on how to apply it to your laptop.

I did the same on my 3gig desktop because the cpu was reaching temps of 190 degrees, or so the software said, I was getting more alarms than a firehouse from the motherboard screeching thingie. Since I applied the paste I'm running quiet at around 115 deg with a full load.

Pouring water on your laptop can help. Gatorade has also been known to boost it's power. :)

Well, well, well... look who has high-speed internet, now. ;)

That arctic silver stuff looks very interesting.

I like the idea of increasing the air space underneath your laptop. However, you could probably fashion something yourself that would work equally as well for much less than $30.

Heck, get a 1" x 2" strip of wood (with the length cut to the width of your laptop) and place velcro strips on it and the back edge of your computer so it can be easily removed. You could put the velcro on both sides of the wood so you could rotate it to get either 1" of underside (back edge) air space or 2" of air space. Spray paint it a color that matches or compliments your laptop, stick a feather in it and call it macaroni!
