Overheat issues with DR-680

Bummer. I have the 680, hasn't overheated but how annoying. You know, those little laptop bases might be good to have, they act like a fan, heatsink combo.
Has it overheated outside of the bag?

Good idea. If some type of small spacer was used that would allow better airflow around the 680 when in the bag, that would surely help.

here's another complaint i have with the 680, the amount of time it takes to solo monitor a track. have to hold that button down for a solid second or two. my solution is to run the headphone jack from the 680 into my 552's B return. so i can jump back and forth between listening to the 680 and being able to do quick solo monitoring on 552.

Right you are. I configure my Alphamix the same way so I can PFL the channels and still monitor the recorder. I find it just as fast to hit the mix level button and gas up the channel I want to solo, rather than actually use the solo button on the 680. But all said, it's still a hell of a recorder for the price. This past weekend I took the advice of using cold packs, which I wrap in a piece of pillow-case, and slide on on top near the speaker, and one underneath while using the recorder in the bag. 4 packs last me all day.

The voltage is ok, seems like all you would need is a cable....does anyone use fuses in audio?. I owned a boat repair and machine shop for many years and did electronic instrument installations of all sorts. We would never install anything without a inline fuse. just sayin.
