Overhead cameras

So I'm about to shoot a cooking video and I'm figuring out how to rig a Canon T2i overhead (ie bird's eye view)

I'm thinking get a C-stand. Extend the arm all the way out and attaches a baby pin to 3/8 thread adapter. What do you guys think?

Make a 'goal' 2 Cstands long pole between.

This gets nasty fast, sandbags et al required unless you want to drop your cam in the soup.

Mount a mirror overhead at an angle and shoot into it. That way you don't have to dick with the T2i every 12 min while it's mounted above your cooking area.

Now we get into the problem of how to rig a giant mirror... The kitchen is not that big to be honest so I don't know where I would put the mirror with all my camera equipment in there.

Sorry, can't help you there as I have no idea of the kitchen layout, or the gear you have at your disposal. Just telling you how we do it. Especially if there is going to be steam rising up onto a lens and camera. Also the mirror does not need to be "giant". Just big enough to cover the intended shot.
