Overcranking with 7D footage

Can someone explain please?

I've got 60P footage (720), I open a sequence in FCP at 720, 23.98 fps. I drop in the 60p footage and it plays in regular speed like it should.

I then change the timing to the 60fps footage to 40%, and it doesn't play well. I get 3 duplicate frames, then one frame, then two duplicate frames, then one frame, then 3 duplicate frames, and on and on and on...

I'm sure it's an easy user error, but my brain is not functioning properly and I can't figure it out.

Try using Cinema Tools to "conform" your 60p footage to 23.976. Should make it drop on the timeline in slow-mo HVX-style, no hassles.
