over 2 hours of footage....

How do you or what is the process of compressing over 2 hours of footage that will go on one DVD? I know that the store bought dvd's are well over 2 hours (some of them anyway. Especially with all the behind the scenes footage and The making of, etc.) Does it take a long time to compressed that much footage?

Some compression software is getting pretty close to realtime now. Esspecially on faster machines. I use Sorenson Squeeze and can compress 2 hours to MPEG-2 in about 2 1/2 or 3 hours. The type of compression settings you're using makes a big difference too.

For what it's worth.

With PPro's MainConcepts standard encoder at full quality, I can squeeze 2.5 hrs onto 7.4 gig & burn to NEC double layer = 2.5 hrs on 1 DVD
