Outstanding article on JJ Abrams

Good TED presentation. I hate reading online articles that make you click to the next page so they can get more ad revenue. 7 pages for an article?

Anyway, I enjoy his build up, his mystery, his character investments but once the mystery box is opened or once you find out whats in it, more times than none you feel really let down. It's not meant to be as a surprise per say but it really tends to be a let down/anticlimatic. I remember the original trailer to Cloverfield was so awesome, until the movie showed you the monster. With Lost, it felt like he did the teaser and intro amazingly well but something happened, like he was force to extend it longer than anticipated and after that the revelations keep coming it was just a little more absurd every time. There was a point where you kinda felt like it was way off course. But if there could be a never-ending show with constant suspense and no pay off, I'm sure people would keep watching Lost, expecting answers but tuning in for more suspense.

The payoff really tends to disappoint and maybe I'm looking for a full fun experience, things like Sixth Sense, although twists kinda burned out. But I feel there are examples of everything he mentions but with better rewarding endings, INCEPTION comes to mind. Abrams is making a name for himself with teaser/mystery/suspense/build up/lens flares but poor ending/payoffs. That being said, I am really enjoying FRINGE right now. :)
