I want to output my 45 minute long movie onto dvd. we used the hvx200 and shot in hd and the file is too big to use my editors computer. We used avid express pro on a mac and are finding post houses that are only final cut/mac or avid/PC compatible...any suggestions or recomendations would br greatly appreciated...I live in Los Angeles so I won't mind driving.
Thanks,
Phil

On the Avid site, it seems that there is compatibility for , but they don't guarentee 100%... the initial recommendation for going from Mac to PC is to move the entire project to the 'windows' environment. Then the FAQ suggests, well, create a new project and piecemealing parts of the project. One item in particular, the FAQ mentions that SDII audio is not supported in the Windows environment, but AIFF and WAV is.

I'd say, get your project on a Firewire MSDOS formated device, (there may be a 2GB max file size issue, I think there may be a way around that...), and have the Mac Avid program deal with the project 'correctly'. Then had that device off to whomever for the DVD...

The closest I've come to using Avid was when I was selling them FDDI cards in the 90's... I didn't get any free eval software... so to hell with them...
