720x480 is full size

but why do you sometimes see 640x480 ? I don't quite understand this size.

Also, I know the next step down in size in many templates is 320x240

What would be a good "in between" size between 740x480 and 320x240?

Not sure the math on that. I think someone posted a chart on that one time but cannot find it.

thanks!

Why would you want an inbetween size? From what I've seen with most professional trailers via Quicktime, etc. the width tends to run 480 (large), 320 (Medium) and 240 (small). Stick with those formats & you shouldn't have any problems, and will look more professional/industry standard.

As far as 640 vs. 720. DV records 720 wide, but TV ratio (4:3) is 640x480 ... that's why when you render out to WMV files, one of the options is DVD Quality at 640x480 ... again, TV size/ratio.

I honestly don't know, though, if you lose a little bit on the sides when rendering from 720 wide to 640, or if it's SLIGHTLY squeezed, or a little of both. Maybe someone else can chime in on that one.

Ok please help me out here. If the Width is 480 I should set the height at?

360 for 4:3, 270 for 16:9.
