I'm trying to export a 1440x1080 HDV sequence. I'm using Quicktime conversion. I set size to 144x108. I end up with a squished format, not a widescsreen format.
How can I make a small Quicktime file of my sequence that preserves the widescreen format.
there are a bunch of ways...all involve a bit of patience.
If you want a very small file that looks great.
use compressor and use the IPOD choice. make sure you click on automatic for the frame size.
If you want a high quality SD size (720x576) with bars, but in proportion. you still need to use compressor, it takes a long, long time. I find the UK letter box gives me the truest pal shaped letterbox, in a 4X3 frame.
If you want a quicker solution that looks pretty good. I export using quicktime to a full def DVCPRO 1080/50 file. From that file I make a DVSTREAM file clicking on preserve aspect ration using letterbox. as I'm still seeking a 4/3 frame.
and from this file I reduce.
