Output Levels

As long as the output of the sound card (Delta 1010LT) and the input to the speakers (Behringer 2031A) match, does it make any difference whether I set things to +4 or -10 or whatever?

Is one more "really what it sounds like" than another?
 
Im not entirely sure what you're getting at but I guess as long as your overall project output doesn't clip (ie run into the red/ceiling clipping the waveform and distorting the sound) it doesn't really matter although I'd always normalise any sound source before creating a master.
 
Oh the levels while editing are a given. This is regarding what I'm listening to them through while editing.

My sound card can output at various levels, and the speakers can take inputs at various levels.

I was just wondering if it made a real difference in what I hear while editing if I kept things at the "consumer" levels, or if there would be a noticeable difference if I use the "pro" level.

I don't think there is, but no harm in double checking. :)
