im using vegas platinum 6.0 and when i download peoples work online, a number of 900x383 size quicktime files that are from the hvx200 (redrock website, video samples) the file sizes are like 60 mb for a couple minutes. when i use my regular sony dvd 403 camcorder (its like 700 bucks) the file sizes are redicolous. if i were to put a quicktime size 900x383 even at 41 seconds the file size is 110 mb. how do people get these redicolously low file sizes at extraordinary quality? if i were to output a 3:20 second quicktime its 350mb. my settings are
project properties
720x480
blend fields (deinter)
full res quality (best)
lower field first
pixel aspect .9091
and output .mov
video rendering best
custom frame 900x383 (note i shoot in widescreen on my little camcorder and crop to 2:35:1)
progressive scan
pixel aspect ratio at 1.0505 (this makes no black bars, covers the whole "quicktime screen box" like it fills it in with video instead of little or big black bars, dont know how else to put it lol)
i use mpeg 4 becuase it makes file sizes smaller than sorenson
quality at 100%
24 frames
keyframes 24
data rate unconstrained
and letterbox to finish output
now with those settings using my 700 dollar camcorder the file sizes like i said are redicolous compared to these HD 900x382 ive downloaded. (off redrock website) even when i output to .avi compressed the same 3:20 second footage its at 720 mb using same settings in project template and outing to ntsc dv widesreen letterbox (again shooting widescreen croppin to 2:35:1)
i know my dvd403 sony is only a 700$ camcorder but it shoots awesome video quality, so i know its not a dvx100, XL, or hvx200. and also does a more professional editing program use better rendering, say final cut. does that make it smaller file sizes? ahhh =(
