Out to P2 in 4:3 letterbox?

this is now my 6th or 7th strategy to get from Vegas to Beta SP.

I'm rendering a Raylight AVI out of Vegas. Then I use P2maker to put it on the P2 card. Then I go S-Video to my Beta Deck (I believe it would better to go component but i don't think i have the right cable. I think the one that comes with the HVX goes to RGB instead of Y, R-Y, B-Y).

So finally using this strategy I'm able to get to the Beta tape with decent quality. There's just one problem: Aspect Ratio. When going from the HVX to the Beta Deck, the 16:9 image gets stretched to fill the 4:3 frame.

Is there someway to render out that will give me a 16:9 image with blackbars in a 4:3 frame on the P2 card that i can then output to the beta deck? Since P2maker will only use Raylight AVIs and I can only render Raylight AVIs in standard HD frame sizes, is it impossible? Is there another way to get to the P2 card besides through P2 maker?

Thanks!
Adam

Is there some way to render a 16:9 file that will have the black bars and the image squeezed into it? So that when it goes to beta it gets stretched back to normal?

Yes, make a 1280 x 720 raylight AVI. Then make a new project with settings for 960 x 720 square pixels (PAR=1.0). Drop your your 1280 x 720 PAR=1 version movie into that and shrink it down. It will become letterboxed once you scale it down to match up the sides. Make another raylight AVI from that and then the P2 Card.
