Out to AE render questions

Just a few basic short questions about rendering 1080i/24PN Uncompressed Quick Times for Sky Replacement and such in After Effects:

1. Just for safety I wanted to run it by someone: I grabbed the shots and dropped them into a 1080/24 square pixel project. Then I chose the uncompressed QT profile, unlicked the audio and dragged the quality to 100%. (why is the quality not at 100% on the uncompressed profile?)

2. How easy/hard is it to automate the renders so I don't have to sit here?

I'll revive this thread instead of starting a new one.

Have a project in Vegas. MXF with Raylight. 720P footage of many frame rates.

Been researching and the Sony YUV looks to be fine, 4:2:2, and good for ccing in AE.

Am I crazy and/or wrong?

Never tried it for that; I do know it has a long render. I just output as Raylight AVI.

Give it a shot and report back.

but AE cannot read a Raylight AVI, can it? And here;s the other problem with that. There are some clips that I had exported to AVI and taken into AE to do some effects on them. Then exported BACK as AVI to vegas. Like some of the time-remapping I'm doing.

Urgh, yeah, I will try the SONY YUV and see what it gives me.

One more question, and maybe this is for the AE forum: so when I did some efx in AE, they only worked with 16 bit. But then I imported them back into a 32 bit project in vegas...is this weird?

I guess I don't see the really big advantage I get by adding one more piece of software. Beside, unfortunately it's not applicable to my situation because the Vegas is on a machine in NYC and the AE is on a machine in Minnesota.

In that case, I would suggest you install the open source lossless codec Lagarith and export with that. Your friend in Minnesota can do the same to read the files back. You will need to ship a hard drive if it's more than 15 minutes of footage.
