I have this annoying problem of my video bieng out of sync with the audio in the timeline. The captured source files are in sync but when played in fcp they are out of sync. i used a dvx100b in 24pa and was captured using the pulldown method and my sequence settings are set at 23.98. i dont understand why this is happening. its been happening after i upgraded to fcp studio 2. anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?

Are you monitoring the right output- remember DV and built-in audio are not in sync when you play out to DV. If you play out to desktop only- audio should be built-in. If you play out to DV you need to attach speakers to your DV device, deck or camera.

im not monitoring on other decks. im just editing basically. my quicktime files are in sync. but in fcp they are not in sync.

Are you playing through firewire to a DVX100 or just on the desktop? Where are your speakers connected?

I had a sync problem because FCP didn't believe the clip was 24p. There was a timecode problem of some sort (sorry, I can't remember the details). I took the clip to cinema tools to do a reverse telecine, and that solved the problem. (Cinema tools realized that the reverse telecine wasn't needed because the clip was already 24p, but I guess it touched the file so FCP was able to realize it too.)

now I do have a problem with out of sync audio:

I shot a music video, have a track with clacks in the beginning, I shot through the song, it is 5 mins long, then took another take and so on.

now in my timeline I have my first take, and laid the song file with the clacks underneath it, sync'd it up to the clacks in the beginning and its all good,, until the 40th second, then every thing gets ou tof sync as the song progresses...

I shot 24P but edit in a 29.97 timeline. the audio was 16 bit, 48khz

I tried my song file which is also 16 bit, 48khz, but came from a MP3

could it be the stereo I used, that it played the damn song not perfectly????

please help, I'm stuck here!

thanks
