Out of Memory Error on Export

I need some help here. I'm trying to export a 35 minute timeline to MP4. Every time it gets an Out of Memory error. I've rebooted the computer multiple times to no avail. I'm resorting to exporting the timeline in shorter segments which is working somewhat.

In the Activity Monitor, FCP shows to be using anywhere from 150% to 300% CPU capacity! Is that even possible, or am I reading it wrong? I've attached a screen grab of the activity monitor.

My timeline has lots of JPEG and TIFF images, but I've done this many times before and have never had such a hard time. Oh, and exporting through Compressor failed several times.
I'm at a loss, and am considering a new Mac Pro, as this one is from 2008.

Help!
Thanks,

Have you tried exporting to a different format, then doing the conversion.

Also have you tried to render the timeline, to see where any problem files might be?

By render you just mean Control R, right? If so, then yes.
I tried exporting to .MOV also, through QT Conversion, the direct export option, and through Compressor.
My project file might be buggy.

Would the new Mac Pro likely be faster when it comes to exports? My current Mac is dreadfully slow when using Compressor.

I've found this out of memory error is related to the number of project tabs in upper LH corner of FCP 7, along with the number of clips/ images in the tabs. Reduce those and it should go away. You probably should also trash preferences, then open the one project you want to work on.
