Out of Memory ? But I have 8gig of it ! HELP

Im editing some HD footage from the Canon 5d mark ii and everything is going
very well and now it wont render anything

its says it out of Memory, but I have 8gigs of it

Is there some way to configure my FCP settings better to make this work ?

what format did you convert your 5dmk2 footage to before editing? ProRes?

FCP can only access 3.5GB of RAM by itself... if you converted your footage properly and set up the sequence properly, then you shouldn't have much to render (unless you're dumping on a bunch of effects).
 
One thing about FCP (being a 32bit app) is that it can only use 2.5 total gigs of ram. You can make an adjustment under 'system settings' and then under Memory & Cache you can adjust how much FCP uses (up to 2.5gb). Perhaps dropping it down to 65% for Application Memory Usage might help. I was having memory issues as well and this did ease it a bit.
