Forgive me if this isn't the right spot for this but it's pretty generic and should be of interest to many building out cutting edge computers.
Here are the system specs of the fastest computer I can put together today.
I'm looking for input from the friends and great minds here. Thank you, ALL OF YOU!!!
We moved up to the SuperMicro X7DA3+ MB (It's a full 64bit MB).
We are now using the MB's 14 ports for 13 SATA ll devices. This saves the slots that I ran out of.
(Any thoughts on this method would be GREATLY appreciated).
WinXP 64bit or Vista Business 64.
XEON QUAD CORE E5335. I can add one more, but prefer to save the money until I find a bottleneck.
8 Gigs RAM.
Enermax Gallexy 1K Power supply.
1 150gig Raptor 10K SATA ll 16mb for the OS and programs.
2 250gig SATA ll 16mb for VT/SE content and client data i.e. EDL's & GFX.
8 500gig SATA ll 16mb drives set up into 2, 2 Terabyte Raid 0 arays.
I really wanted SCSI, but I'd have to sell myself and I'm just not that pretty!
We are back to the 8800GTX in the PCI Express slot Awesome Card!!!
VTPro card probably in the single 64bit 100MHz channel.
IEEE card in the other available 64bit 133MHz slot.
I'll be using the USB to PCMCIA adapter. (Any thoughts)?
Blue-ray DVD on a SATA channel.
RAID 0. I'm not living on the edge too much.
We always back up to external drives as soon as we finish a project, sometimes in-between.
I don't mind this process and prefer the storage and speed.
This system should scream real time HD if my components and configuration are correct.
Again thank you all for your suggestions and comments. It's times like this when friends make a huge difference!
