I need to learn digital boards more. If I knew the DM1000VCM inside and out.........I would have a mixing engineer gig with MTV tomorrow.

But no rehearsal time, no sound check prior to performance. So I had to say no. Sad Panda.....

No sound check? You would have to already know the rooms eq settings. And you know 10x more about that than me. I've only known one sound-man that did that but that was in a bar setting. Even then he knew the rooms eq and had to work the sound all night anyways to adapt to the amount of people showing up because the rooms eq is always changing.

And actually one more time at an outdoor event. This guy rocked the sound from the get go. But we were the second band up so he was probably close to the settings to begin with.

Maybe MTV does a remix for airing purposes. Sounds a bit much to ask for but I'm only a little surprised.

Actually, all might not be lost. I talked to my contact and explained the issues, and he agrees. They may be reschedding the event to give me some time!!!!

Wow. MTV might reschedule time for me. Kind of humbling.

No , not really humbling. Skill is skill. The tech part you can learn. The talent you already have. So that's great news Doc. Really good.

Might have something to do with the fact the mixer they want me to run will NOT do what they want. In Ear stereo monitoring for 5 band members + a guest vocalist with only 8 aux channels? Not a chance in hell that will occur with that board. Told them they need an LM6 at a minimum for that kind of monitoring. I can provide only 4 submixes with the board they want.

Seriously not liking the rental house that tried to "sell" that board to them for this gig right now. And I work with them a lot. Next time I am in house, gonna give a piece of my mind to the rep that tried to pull this.

Yeah I looked at the board and uh...looked a bit small but if that's what they want.

No worries. Got a gig with Paramount Studios through the same contact next weekend. 7000 people in attendance. Being mix engineer.

LOL, hopefully. I can run the crap out of an analog board up to 72 channel, after that, I need a second engineer.

But Digi boards, I need a bit of training to grasp set up. After set up, I am good. It's just the digital patching and routing that I need some work on.
