Yeah this one is the best. I love it so much that I'd marry it. Really.

But...anyone know of any other similar sites out there?

Love to look.

this is the best though. Indietalk, they put out a section for "premium members" which I think is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I don't know who'd pay for that.

I don't know if I'd marry it though. It's Jarred's baby, and I have come to know it so well, that it would seem almost incestuous.

I've been a member of a couple of other forums and I almost never go to them anymore. This is, by far, the best site I've ever had experience with.

This is the best. Most active, on-topic posts. Most camera-specific thread categories with the most activity. The 2-pop forums and the related cinematographer.com forum are worth a browse once in awhile. But DVXUSER is by far the best.

But here's MY problem . . . I'm about to jump the Panasonic DVX/HVX/SPX ship! When I get my Sony DSR450, I won't have anywhere to go anymore (there certainly are NO forums specific to the DSR450!). Perhaps Barry or Jarred may see it fit to create a new "other cameras" category just for me???

NBC you traitor! You should keep the DVX just to continue to participate in the DVX Fest's. I still like your entry from the zombie one.

I'm sure your experience and passion will always serve as a great tool for everyone here, even if you are moving up to big big big boy cameras.

Thanks for the kind words, Yankee. I would totally wait for the HVX-like, 2/3" shoulder-mount camera that Panasonic will be introducing next year, but I'm afraid it's going to add up to close to $30K once you add glass and some P2 cards. I guess I'll have to be relegated to "DVXUSER.com" lurker status. Unless . . .

You have too much experience and knowledge to go back to lurker status. Maybe you should just change your tag to 'NBCShooter- Recovering DVX Owner'

Back to the topic at hand though (sorry for the threadjack)...

If you go to google there are a ton of filmmaking websites. The reason why DVXUser is so popular is because of the community, expertise, and knowlege here. It is also a fun place to bum about. There are a ton of filmmaking websites, just like there are a ton of user groups for Audio, lighting, and everything else imaginable.

With most of the other sites the common bond is filmmaking in general, whereas here the common bond is the camera that we all own. It makes for an interesting combination. One of the reasons why I spend time here is I don't want to discuss other cameras, I want to discuss the one I have.
Plus, can you name another site where you can have Barry Green give you technical advice, David Jimmerson teach you about editing, and then have John Hudson bust your balls for not running a search?

It's nice not having to weed through posts about "movies" that some 12-year-old kid made with his Canon ZR60 with no lighting or external audio.

Amen.

Unless that 12-year-old was Matt McDermitt or Robert Rodriguez, of course. But I think we all know what you meant.

NBC, you're certainly part of the family and will remain so even if you "marry outside the faith."

Maybe Jarred will simplify things even further, and just go to two camera forums: "us" and "them."

heh heh...

thanks for the tips guys.

i'm always looking for places to share my stuff and learn from others.

I've been spending so much time here it's bordering on addiction.

NBCshooter.... How much is the dsr450 setting u back, if u dont mind?

The DSR450WSL goes for about $18,000 depending on lens, etc. However, why would a news photographer employed by a network have to buy their own camera for work? I have several friends who work for various network-affiliates and not one of them had to buy their own camera.

Now then, if you're a "freelance" ENG photographer, then it is a different situation as you have no regular paycheck and are not employed by any one network.

btw, This Sony camera can only record a 25mbps signal (DVCam or DVsp).

I actually laughed pretty hard out loud over that one...

Does that mean you won't be talking about any of my projects anymore Yankee?

I've been to your site and checked your stuff out. Good stuff man, but not DVX good  Just kidding, really good looking stuff.
