Other means of revenue?

I like film/video, I try not to get into the whole 9-5 stuff, wondering if anyone had advice on how to make more revenue on the side. Tried ebay business but didn't work so well. Stock footage racket is okay.

Shoot for one of the umpteen national companies who employ local shooters to do business profiles, author interviews, employer recruiting videos, etc. I work for several. Pay starts at a couple hundred for 60 finished seconds, but stick with 'em, prove yourself, and some companies will throw better jobs at you. Shot one yesterday that pays $800 for 90 seconds - a four hour shoot plus editing. This company previously offered only $200 shoots. The way I look at it, even the cheaper shoot is OK since I did not have to go out and find the job, it comes to me.

I also did OK with stock footage until the economy fell. Still have footage on several sites and sell a few clips a week. There is a huge range in the pay you earn per clip depending on the company, anywhere from $25 to $300 for a 15 second clip. Like anything else, you will sell lots of the cheap ones and few of the expensive ones.

Work for a rental house, sometimes you can find ones that are freelance positions. You might learn something.

Hi guys, i am actually in the process of registering freelance filmmakers for my new company. We will be working with mid to large sized companies such as Pepsi Cola, Microsoft to help them create more engaging, interesting viral videos.

please email me here tapha[AT]imaginely.com with the subject line "Interested" for more information.

If you would like an immediate addition to our database of pre-launch filmmakers then please include a sample of a video that you have made.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Cheers!

Are any of these firms still around? It's been a while...curious how they've weathered the recent economic times.
