Re: Oscars: Big 5

Jim Carrey got punked, huh? Damn.

This year isnt too exciting for Oscars. Ill be pulling for The Aviator

Re: Oscars: Big 5

Agree with ya 100 percent.
...but I think that Jamie Fox is probably gonna get the best actor.

Re: Oscars: Big 5

Mel Gibson should have got nominated for director and best film. Million dollar Baby!! Not many people have even seen that movie. The Oscars are kind of a joke if you ask me.

I didn't like Moore's 9-11 but you would think the hollywood crowd would have nominated him anyway.

Re: Oscars: Big 5

Moore did not submit for best documentary but instead went after best picture. Not sure why, maybe thought he had a shot at the big one. Silly IMO - He just passed on an Oscar.  :-/

Edit: I should note he was ineligible for best documentary because he played the movie on cable TV.

Re: Oscars: Big 5

I'm pulling for Finding Neverland. That movie really worked me over. Damn, i'm such a puss :/

Re: Oscars: Big 5

never watch these events, but Don Cheadle is one of the most underated actors out there. Im pulling for him.

Re: Oscars: Big 5

Haven't seen any of these films, but did see The Passion. How could they not have nominated it for best picture?? I guess they're still pissed off at Mel.

Re: Oscars: Big 5

I hope Cheadle wins for Hotel Rwanda. It was such an honest, heartfelt performance...he's so good in it...

Re: Oscars: Big 5

I haven't seen The Merchant of Venice (nor do I know if it qualifies). But from what I've read, it's an amazing film.

Re: Oscars: Big 5

Million dollar baby was much better than the aviator IMHO

I liked eternal sunshine more, but no question that Swank deserves it more than Winslet

I dont think Scorsese deserves director, but i wanna se him win before I die, so it wouldnt hurt my feelings even though i think clints was better

Havnt seen Hotel or Ray, so cant comment

Re: Oscars: Big 5

Your list is the same as mine - IMHO, in terms of who SHOULD win, I think you're spot on!

However, who I think WILL win is a different matter... ;)

Re: Oscars: Big 5

I havent seen all of these films but ask:

Where are the kick ass lists? Doesnt seem as exciting this year. Of course Oscar night Ill be pulling for MArty

Re: Oscars: Big 5

I'd have liked to see Kill Bill get a cinematography nod...

And does anybody else feel that Ray is a little overrated as a film? Individual, more specific aspects were definitely top knotch (namely Jamie Foxx's performance), but I just flat-out thought the movie dragged a bit :-/
