In prep for a shoot this coming monday I was going through audio checks and discovered two of my Trams were sketchy and it was just time for them to go after 10 years. So a bit of research looking for that other Lav like a Tram I had read about here. Found Oscar, sent an email and got an answer twenty minutes later, ordered two and should have them soon. Talk about a painless purchase and great service... that is Oscar Sound Tech. Dave was the person I dealt with and if their mics are like their service I will be very happy and be coming back for more.
During this check I noticed my two kits were on different firmware. So I immediately went to the google and found the Sennheiser downloads page, got the right software and then scratched my head for an hour wondering where the install instruction were. There are none. Further google searches didn't help, although I did read a couple of places about a receiver becoming a brick if you mess up.
Luckily I have a Sennheiser center close by, a phone call later and a great service tech, Dominic said he would do it for me while I wait. Another reason to buy Sennheiser for me.
He then explained to upgrade the firmware you need an iR tool that connects to your computer and the software. Not sure what difference the upgrade on both has done, but its done.
