'Orphaned' Hero : National Treasure ?

Would anybody say that Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) is or is not an 'orphaned hero' in the film National Treasure (and also in National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets)? Why or why not?

No, he's strongly discouraged by his father, but he's not metaphorically orphaned. Indiana Jones is a much stronger character and he has a similar relationship with his father, but I'd say he's much more 'orphaned', though we don't come to know this until the third film.

Been awhile since I have watched the film, but isn't there a grandfather figure at the start of the story (or a great- or great-great-grandfather), that then is gone, in that sense creating an orphaned hero; somewhat like where we have Little Red's grandmother there and then gone in the classic faery tale?

There was an influential grandfather who had an affinity with Cage's character, but a larger part of the film focused on the father/son relationship.
