Copy that. Was hoping to see it soon, though. I mean the app is good, but there's just something about being able to just grab a physical control panel and instantly make an adjustment. As awesome as apps are, they can be slow and do bad/unpredictable things at inopportune times, that make me not trust them during live shows.

I believe the nova p600c control panel can be used interchangeably with different lights (different p600cs), it'd be cool if Prolycht's equivalent could do the same.

Yes - bluetooth and wifi or whatever may be horrid. (in terms of range interferance or whatever). but the reality of having 'all' lights on one device fast becomes very appealing. especially with a UI that has a colour circle and the like. Poke for pink.
Using a phone that is logged itno your light or your movi or your canon or the wifi hotspot is horrific.
If I were in the lights business I would be looking to get on such system but make sure it was robust even if a cat5 option was needed.

What does the tablet/stand set up look like? I think something like an ipad mini might be the sweet spot for small shoots. Or if it's on the Gaffer's phone then it doesn't matter, they can deal with it.
What about integrated into a smallHD monitor, would that be helpful or annoying? I guess it depends on the UI... Or if the monitor is large enough then 1/4 could be image, with the rest for a scope, then some Prolycht controls. It'd look like a davinci resolve screenshot!

Our ChromaLink app works on tablets or phones, wifi or bluetooth. In addition there are wireless lighting control systems such as Blackout available for running on iPads. Just about every gaffer I know has an iPad Pro for this reason.
For a holder I suggest looking at my other company, Accsoon, maker of the PowerCage II and PowerCage Pro II, for the iPad and iPad Pro, respectively. These cases not only protect the iPads, but offer multiple mounting points in the form of 1/4" threaded sockets and cold shoe mounts, a kickstand for upright work on a table, and an included Sony NPF battery adapter that will charge your iPad as well as other 5v devices such as a CRMX transmitter for increased range and control. I like to mount a Nitze or SmallRig handle to the sides and a 5/8" socket adapter to the top. That way I can hold it in my hands, place it down on a table or flip it over to stick onto a stand.

The extended legs provide clearance not just for the fresnel but also give even more room for the power cable. It can still connect without the extended legs but this makes things even easier.
The barn doors don't touch the ground when in a landscape orientation, however when turned 90 degrees in portrait mode they touch. I'm sure it'd be fine but I'd rather be more cautious and will try to remember to rest the light with barn doors not touching the ground if possible. It's not an edge but two "points" due to the shape. With non-LED large fresnel barndoors, they're only resting in their slots, where as with this light any excess force is also applying pressure on the actual bowens mount so something to think about. The light, fresnel and barn doors only fit in the crate with the barn doors being vertical (too wide otherwise). To give similar clearance in the crate like the extended feet, I'll add a layer of foam under the light itself but not the fresnel, so the barn doors can be suspended over a gap.

I suggest a hunk of foam to protect the front of the fresnel while in the crate. Just something to cover for impact. Should anything actually happen, the front cover is just an optical flat sheet of acrylic to protect the main lens inside. It's inexpensive and easily replaceable with just a few screws holding it in place.

Thanks Mitch and good to know. Great suggestion - there's still room in the crate to have the barn doors attached as well as a piece foam between them and the crate wall.
Do you see any issues with the barn doors being attached for transport? It seems like it'd be fine.

I see no problem with the barndoors being attached. That's part of their job, protecting the lens when not in use.

Instant solution - quarter Apple box in the crate. This gives clearance for the barn doors and a bonus box. Because the entire light is quite low overall, even with a box it doesn’t end up obnoxiously tall. Photos for final set up, as well as evidence the barn doors are in fact suspended.

I think these might be locally made in Australia. I found them searching for large plastic crate but believe they're known as lug boxes in the plastics/storage industry, at least over here.
I haven't looked hard, but I'm not sure if there's an exact US equivalent but this at least gives dimensions:

When I was putting together a van lighting package a Gaffer here hated hard cases, so we eliminated as many as possible. Traditional milk crates for smaller items, then these larger crates for the second standard. Two of them fit perfectly on a rubbermaid cart top shelf (you can fit 2 more on the bottom shelf too but one has to be perpendicular because the vertical corner pillars of the cart get in the way. They can also hold M18s including ballasts with barn doors removed. It'd be irresponsible to stack them because they're not extremely rigid, but great for squeezing through a gate by the side of a house.

Nice, thanks. In the US we have some similar bins, often with 2-part foldover lids. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.

A side note. When I design stuff, my own 'Dana', whatever, I try to sconsider the size of 'the world'. Now I guess maybe a pallet is 'a size' and then (in the EU) we have euroboxes that might be half a pallet long, which might be 600mm.
So as a desighner I would be looking for a 520 target length which might go in a 600mm crate with a little padding.
Or maybe 1120 for a longer item.
When I launch a product. Which crate it works with would be clearly announced.
I can count on a single hand the items I own that are not 'palletised'

We did exactly that. I just didn't recognize Rob's specific box.
One thing that must be noted in our industry is that different people like to work different ways. Some like to kit gear differently than others. Some like bespoke cases and others cannot stand them and prefer to stick gear in crates. Still others shove several items in a rolling hamper and are done. So it's pretty hard to make any standardized solution because so many people will refuse to use whatever you decide. A pallet is a pretty big measure and we offer ways to ship with those. But everyone has different carts, different crates, metric v imperial and even different vehicles they load into. So there is no right answer for all.
