order of event video fx, track video fx, and event pan/crop

i have video that i shot in 4:3. I'm using EVENT pan/crop to crop to 16:9.

There are certain Magic Bullet plug-ins that add a sort of feathered effect to the top and bottom of the frame. If i apply the MB effect to the TRACK instead of the EVENT, it feathers the top and bottom of the 16:9 frame. This is the look i want. But i want to get it by applying the MB effect to the EVENT, not the TRACK. Unfortunately, if i apply the MB effect to the EVENT, it feathers the top and bottom of the 4:3 frame and the feather gets cropped out and you can't see it in the 16:9 frame.

It seems that in the order of things, the EVENT video fx come before the cropping.

Is there any way to apply the effect to the EVENT but have it come after the crop so that it only effects the 16:9 frame?

Why not just have your 4:3 footage on a different track? Seems to obvious to me, but since I don't know exactly what you're doing ....

i want some clips on this track to have the effect and others not. there are already other fx on the track that i want applied to every clip on that track. if the only way to get the look i want is to apply it to the track then i can go back and rearrange clips on different tracks to make it all work. i was just hoping that there was something in there i didn't know about that would allow me to apply the effect to the event and still get the desired look. it would save me a bunch of time. oh well.

Maybe do it in multiple parts? Set some effects, render to a new track, then do some more? That's what I'd try, in my fumbling around.

Again, without looking at what you're doing, here's what I think should work, and take the least trouble.

Duplicate your track, which will make an exact copy of everything you've done on the track you're referring to prior to your MB plug in.

THEN, just select all your 16:9 clips/events on the one track & delete them, then do the same on the other track with your 4:3 clips/events on the other track. The only other adjustments you should have to make MAY be at the beginning/end of certain events where you had a transition into the next ... you'll have to manually just slide your transition over the same amount you had it when the events mixed together on the ends (I'm sure there's a more techy way to say that).

Then apply your MB plugin to the 16:9 track. Unless you've got a TON of footage on there (i.e. a 10+ minute project), it should only take a few minutes to do this.
